Exploring Human Connection Through Light.
This project explores the idea of “from me to we”: the human need for connection, belonging, and togetherness. Light is the central medium, bringing people together through a shared experience that extends beyond the visual. It transforms how we perceive and interact with a space, creating atmosphere, evoking emotion and offering new ways to experience our surroundings.
At the heart of the design is the heart symbol, a universal yet deeply personal expression of love, compassion and connection. Its significance has become particularly poignant for me following the loss of my Nan. In times of darkness, love can offer comfort, hope, and a sense of connection that stays with us. Placing the heart within a dark space creates a contrast between light and shadow, revealing colour, warmth and the possibility of connection even in moments of loss.
The work invites people to bring their own meaning to the heart. Whether it represents love, remembrance, identity, community or belonging, the symbol offers a space for individual interpretation within a shared experience.
Ultimately, “From Me to We” is about how something deeply personal can become something collective. Through light, colour and the shared experience of space, the project celebrates the connections that unite us, reminding us that even in darkness, there is light, and we do not have to experience it alone.
