FREE live research and development project exploring body movement and laser projections. This exploration includes different genres of dance, particularly Portsmouth’s maritime dance heritage and the modern dance forms of today. Other participants of the project include local dance groups and internationally renowned dance artists.
The public are invited to participate in mini workshops and interact with the laser technology.
Simon Harmer has been researching, performing and teaching dance for over 40 years. He specialises in the informal improvised stepping of the south coast of England, especially the iconic Sailor’s hornpipe. Simon’s work is known all over the world, particularly in the USA, Canada and New Zealand. Find out more about Simon here.
Sasha Biloshisky, a choreographer and an arts producer, is a founder of Funk Format Soul Rawkus. Sasha has worked with music artists Sean Paul, Kylie Minogue and Boy George. He has choreographed shows for BMW and Vauxhall and performed as a member of the professional cast for the Olympics Opening Ceremonies, HM Queen’s Birthday and West End musicals. Simon and Sasha have been researching the roots of popular dance. Their highly successful project Step Your Way demonstrated how young people can become fascinated by exploring dance heritage.
