Three unique ‘scavenger hunt’ trails of illustrations of animals run in multiple locations: St Mary’s Church, Victoria Park and Alexandra Park. Clues lead from one artwork to the next and each is augmented with further digital content like animations, sounds, text, some are even three dimensional and can be viewed from all sides.

The artworks themselves are placed along the route for all to see, and the augmented digital content can be viewed using a phone or tablet. When an artwork is found the digital layer can be viewed by viewing the artwork through a smart phone or tablet using a specified app. There are two apps which will enable viewing of the augmented reality (AR) content, once these are on the phone or device there is no further log in or account required.

The illustrations cover many species of the animal kingdom, some are light hearted and colourful, some highlight issues for the animal kingdom, some have accompanying quotes and each is unique. The artists whose work is shown are from different backgrounds, locations and at different stages of their profession, and the animal subject matter is the common thread.

The scavenger hunt uses both real life experience and a digital augmented aspect and the locations for the artworks encompass both urban and more natural environments.
