Kaleidoscopic Mandala

Artist: Claudia La Bianca

Presenting Partner: Portsmouth Creates

Location: Cosham Park

All three days, 5pm - 9pm

Human-Powered Kaleidoscopic Mandala is an interactive kinetic sculpture that transforms human energy into a mesmerizing display of colour, light, and geometric patterns.

Inspired by the hypnotic beauty of kaleidoscopes and the harmony of mandalas, the installation invites audiences to become part of the artwork. By rotating a hand-operated crank, participants set the sculpture in motion, creating an ever-changing visual experience.

Combining art, mechanics, and vibrant illumination, the installation celebrates movement, transformation, and human connection. Its circular patterns symbolize unity and the continuous cycles of life.

Powered entirely by human participation rather than an electric motor, the sculpture transforms spectators into creators, encouraging curiosity, playfulness, and shared discovery.

The Human-Powered Kaleidoscopic Mandala reminds us that even the simplest human action can generate extraordinary beauty, turning art into a living, collective experience.
