Park Light - Greenhouse In The Park

Artist: Rachel Jones (HMP)

Presenting Partner: Art-Up

Location: Greenhouse, Victoria Park

All three days, 5pm - 9pm

Set within the unique environment of the Greenhouse, this project invites visitors into a playful and immersive space inspired by the themes of twinkle, sparkle, whimsy and dopamine. The installation will transform the glasshouse into a place of wonder, where light, colour and participation combine to create moments of joy and connection during the darker winter months.

Drawing inspiration from the small things that lift our spirits—a glimmer of sunlight on water, the sparkle of a treasured object, or the delight of discovering something unexpected—the project celebrates the importance of everyday joy. Visitors will be invited to contribute to a growing collective artwork, creating decorative elements that catch the light and add to the evolving installation. We will be asking you, What makes you shine? And visitors can contribute their ideas to a collective piece about what brings us joy and sparkle.

Reflective surfaces, illuminated details and colourful materials will create a constantly changing environment that responds to movement and interaction.
At its heart, the project explores the idea of dopamine as a positive emotional response to creativity, curiosity and play. Rather than focusing on technology or spectacle alone, it encourages simple acts of making, sharing and noticing. As the installation grows throughout the event, the Greenhouse will become a beacon of light and imagination, offering a welcoming space where people of all ages can pause, create and experience a sense of wonder together.
